CBF™ - Carbelim Biomimetic Façade
Vertical Biomimetic Algal Photobioreactor for
Urban Carbon Capture, Air Purification, and Circular
Bioeconomy Integration
The Carbelim Biomimetic Façade (CBF™) is an architectural-scale, vertical photobioreactor system designed to transform building exteriors into active carbon capture and air purification units. Engineered with multi-patent-applied biotechnology, CBF™ uses the photosynthetic power of microalgae to absorb carbon dioxide (CO₂), filter airborne pollutants, and release fresh oxygen—making it a smart, scalable solution for climate-resilient urban infrastructure

A Nature-Based Solution for
Built Environments
Unlike conventional green walls or passive building façades, CBF™ is an active, AI-powered system that optimizes microalgae growth and pollutant removal in real time. Each façade module functions as a self-contained bioreactor and can be connected to each other, capturing atmospheric carbon and converting it into biomass and clean air. CBF™ integrates seamlessly into building envelopes, turning vertical wall surfaces into living, breathing ecosystems.
How It Works
The CBF™ (Carbelim Biomimetic Façade) replicates and enhances the natural process of photosynthesis using a closed-loop, AI-optimized photobioreactor system. The core structure comprises transparent photovoltaic glass panels enclosing vertical microalgae cultivation chambers embedded directly into building facades. These chambers provide a controlled environment that supports high-density algae growth under regulated light, temperature, and nutrient conditions, enabling continuous carbon dioxide absorption and oxygen release.
Transparent photovoltaic glass and fiber-reinforced façade panels
For maximum light penetration, energy generation and structural durability
Optional Integrated LED grow lighting
or low-light and nighttime operation, ensuring 24/7 productivity
Automated nutrient delivery and gas exchange system
to support optimal microalgae metabolism
Advanced sensor suite
For real-time monitoring of CO₂ levels, oxygen output, temperature, and pH
AI- and IoT-powered control unit
To dynamically adjust internal conditions for peak carbon capture and biomass generation
This intelligent, self-regulating system ensures continuous, high-efficiency performance in both indoor and outdoor environments making CBF™ a next-generation solution for urban air purification and carbon sequestration.
Key Benefits of CBF™
01
Urban Carbon Sequestration
The CBF™ system actively captures atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO₂) through enhanced microalgal photosynthesis, enabling biological carbon fixation directly on building surfaces. This nature-based technology offers a scalable solution for urban carbon sequestration, contributing significantly to climate change mitigation and decarbonization of city environments
02
Air Purification and Oxygen Enrichment
CBF™ functions as a living air filtration system. It removes harmful airborne pollutants, including particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and carbon monoxide (CO). In parallel, the system releases fresh oxygen, thereby improving ambient air quality and supporting respiratory health in densely populated urban zones.
03
Circular Bioeconomy and Carbon Utilization
The CO₂ captured by the CBF™ is not wasted—it is converted into algal biomass, which can be harvested and refined through OmegaPod™ and AlgaPod™ systems. The resulting bio-products include:
Vegan Omega-3 Oils (DHA/EPA)
A sustainable, plant-based alternative to fish oil
Plant-Based Proteins
For food, nutrition, and aquaculture industries
Phycocyanin Extracts
A high-value antioxidant for functional foods and cosmetics
Biofeed and Biogas
Renewable inputs for energy and agriculture
04
Sustainable Architecture and Green Building Compliance
CBF™ is engineered to integrate seamlessly into new and existing buildings, making it an ideal solution for LEED, WELL, and Net-Zero energy projects. The façade enhances building performance, supports sustainable design mandates, and provides verifiable data for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting.
05
Urban Cooling and Aesthetic Integration
Beyond its environmental benefits, CBF™ delivers evaporative cooling and aesthetic greening, helping to mitigate the urban heat island effect while enhancing the visual appeal of building facades. It transforms static infrastructure into biophilic, climate-active surfaces that contribute to both environmental functionality and architectural value.
Ideal Use Cases
CBF™ is designed for a wide range of applications in
sustainable urban development, including:
01
Commercial building facades and rooftops
02
Educational and healthcare facilities
03
Transportation hubs (metros, airports, EV stations)
04
Smart city infrastructure and green corridors
05
Vertical farming and bio-integrated architecture
06
Commercial production for micro-algae or spirulina biomass
Smart Monitoring & Remote Management
CBF™ comes equipped with a cloud-connected
environmental monitoring system, tracking key
parameters in real-time:
CO₂ absorption levels
Oxygen output
Airborne pollutants (PM, VOCs, HCHO)
Temperature, humidity, and light intensity
Data is accessible via mobile app and web dashboard, enabling real-time reporting, ESG tracking, and carbon offset validation.
