At Carbelim®,
we are redefining the future of urban living through nature-based carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) solutions powered by advanced microalgae biotechnology.
As a pioneering climate tech startup, we develop high-performance, AI-driven systems that capture carbon dioxide (CO₂), purify polluted air, and transform emissions into valuable bio-based products such as vegan omega-3 oil, plant-based protein, and bioenergy.
Headquartered in India and recognized by Startup India DIPP (191511) and KSUM (3992), Carbelim® operates with strategic hubs in the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, and United States, delivering innovative CCU technology for smart cities, sustainable architecture, government health programs, and the circular economy.

Our Story
Science-Led, Mission-Driven,
A Revelation in Algae
The story of Carbelim® began with a powerful realization during our founder and CEO, Karthika Gopi’s doctoral research on nature-based carbon sequestration at UAE University. While studying microalgae, she discovered their extraordinary ability to absorb CO₂ and produce oxygen at rates far exceeding trees, using significantly less space and time. This revelation, coupled with the support of our co-founders, who bring a collective 35 years of experience in R&D engineering, technology, AI, and operations, sparked the vision for Carbelim®—a company dedicated to transforming urban infrastructure into active climate solutions.
Founded to address the worsening crisis of urban air pollution, rising carbon emissions, and inefficient traditional purification methods, Carbelim® leverages the potential of microalgae to build systems that not only clean the air but also produce revenue-generating, sustainable products from the captured carbon.

What We Do
BioMimetic Façade™: Active Architecture
for Climate Resilience
Our flagship innovation, the BioMimetic Façade™, is a multi-patent-applied photobioreactor that integrates seamlessly into building exteriors. Unlike passive green walls, this dynamic façade uses AI and IoT sensors to optimize the growth of microalgae, which in turn absorbs CO₂, removes particulate matter, and generates oxygen in real-time.

OmegaPod™
Transforming CO₂ into
Sustainable Vegan
Omega-3 Oil

The OmegaPod™ is an advanced, containerized Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) system engineered to convert carbon dioxide emissions into high-value, plant-based nutraceuticals. This plug-and-play biopod cultivates select strains of microalgae rich in DHA and EPA—the essential omega-3 fatty acids—and processes the resulting biomass through state-of-the-art supercritical CO₂ extraction and precision refinement technologies.
Addressing the global demand for vegan omega-3 supplements, OmegaPod™ offers a sustainable, scalable, and clean-label alternative to fish-derived oils, without the environmental cost of overfishing or ocean-based contaminants. Each unit acts as a micro-scale clean air factory, simultaneously capturing CO₂, purifying ambient air, and producing market-ready bioactives.
Tailored for agripreneurs, corporates, municipalities, and ESG-driven institutions, OmegaPod™ features an on-site revenue generation model that enables users to directly monetize their captured carbon. By integrating with carbon offset programs and sustainability-linked funding, it allows organizations to reduce their carbon footprint while tapping into the fast-growing plant-based health and wellness market
The OmegaPod™ represents a breakthrough in circular carbon economy solutions—transforming emissions into income and setting a new benchmark for climate-positive, commercially viable CCU technologies. With its modular design, rapid deployment capabilities, and data-backed performance, it empowers cities and industries to lead in the transition toward a net-zero, air-purified future

AlgaPod™
Portable Spirulina-
Infused Carbon Offset
Solution

The AlgaPod™ is a solar-powered, containerized spirulina cultivation system designed to deliver carbon-negative nutrition and climate resilience. Built within a refurbished shipping container, this compact photobioreactor leverages microalgae biotechnology to sequester up to 7,200 kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO₂) per year—equivalent to the carbon offset capacity of 300 mature trees—while producing 3,600 kilograms of high-protein spirulina biomassannually.
Scientifically Engineered for Health, Nutrition, and Sustainability
Spirulina is a WHO-endorsed superfood known for its high protein content (up to 65%), essential amino acids, iron, antioxidants, and B-vitamins. Its applications are scientifically validated in combating malnutrition, anemia, and micronutrient deficiencies, especially in food-insecure populations.
Use Cases Include:

Children
Spirulina supplementation improves weight gain, hemoglobin levels, and immunity in undernourished children.

Pregnant Women
Rich in iron, folate, and protein, spirulina reduces anemia and supports fetal development.

Crisis-Affected Populations
Offers immediate, high-density nutrition during humanitarian emergencies.
Versatile Applications for High-Impact Sectors
AlgaPod™ is tailored for a wide range of users and operating environments:
NGOs & Government Programs:
Combat hunger and support nutrition missions in rural, refugee, and underserved regions.
Disaster Relief & Military Operations
Deploy portable units for on-site food and nutrient production in remote or crisis areas.
Agripreneurs & Local Farmers
Launch a climate-smart, profitable microalgae business with bulk spirulina, phycocyanin extract, and functional superfoods.
Schools & Community Centers
Deliver daily nutrition through local spirulina integration in meal programs.
Value-Added Products
Each AlgaPod™ generates a range of high-value outputs:
CO₂ levels
PM2.5 / PM10
TVOCs and formaldehyde
Air Quality Index (AQI)
Temperature and humidity
Our cloud-based platform and mobile dashboard provide instant insights, supporting ESG compliance, carbon reporting, and sustainability certifications.
Circular Bioeconomy:
From Pollution to Production
Carbelim’s innovation lies in closing the loop—from carbon capture to carbon conversion. Our systems embody a true circular bioeconomy, where captured carbon becomes a resource for:
Vegan omega-3 oil
Alternative proteins for food security
Biofeed and bioenergy
Air purification and oxygen release
By integrating environmental remediation with product development, we offer not only a climate-positive solution but also a commercially scalable business model for cities and industries.
